WHAT IS THE MARCH 14 ELECTION?

The March 14th Election will be taking place for the selection of office-holders in local government (Mayor and Council). The cities of Holbrook, Phoenix - District 3 and Goodyear (Goodyear's election is all-mail) have confirmed a local election. Why should voters participate? These local seats, Mayor and Councilmember, make decisions regarding city services that can affect voters' every day lives. Issues such as parks and recreation, libraries, street maintenance, trash and water services are all considered and voted upon by the City Council. KEY DATES

  • Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, February 13, 2017 at midnight
  • Early Voting Begins: Wednesday, February 15, 2017
  • Last Day to Request a Ballot by Mail: Friday, March 3, 2017 at 5pm

Voting

City of Phoenix - District 3 Residents:
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, the City of Phoenix will conduct a Runoff Election in which registered voters in Council District 3 will elect a Councilmember to serve the remainder of a term that expires Jan. 2, 2020. This election is required by the Phoenix City Charter because no candidate for this office received a majority of the votes cast in the Special Council Election held on Nov. 8, 2016. Holbrook Residents: Voters can drop off their ballot at one of three ballot replacement centers listed below -

  • 100 Code Talkers Dr., Holbrook, AZ 86025
  • 425 Paper Mill Rd, Taylor, AZ 85939
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, the City of Holbrook will conduct a Primary Election to fill the office of three Council Members. Information and candidates packets are available at City Hall, 465 First Avenue, Holbrook, Arizona. For more information, call the City Clerk's Office at (928) 524-6225. Note: Any candidate receiving a majority of all votes cast at the Primary Election will be declared elected without running at the General Election. Early ballots must be RECEIVED by the county no later than 7pm on March 14, 2017 (Election Day).

Goodyear Residents: Voters may place their ballots contained in the signed affidavit envelope in the sealed ballot box at one of these locations-

  • Goodyear City Hall, 190 N. Litchfield Road. City Hall hours will be extended on election day only, Tuesday, March 14 to 6 a.m. through 7 p.m. City offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday.
  • Maricopa County Elections Office, 510 S. 3rd Ave., Phoenix
  • Maricopa County Recorder and Elections Main Office, 111 S. 3rd Ave., Phoenix
  • Maricopa County Recorder and Elections Southeast Office, 222 E. Javelina, Mesa
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, the City of Goodyear will be holding a Mayor and Council member election. The city participates in an all-mail ballot election, which means every registered voter in Goodyear will receive a ballot in the mail starting Feb. 15. Completed ballots contained in the signed affidavit envelope can be returned by mail using the postage-paid return envelope. All voted ballots must be received at a drop-off location by the close of business on Primary Election day, Tuesday, March 14. ID at the Polls

After arriving at your polling location on Election day you will present one form of identification from List #1 or two different forms of identification from List #2 or #3.

LIST #1 - SUFFICIENT PHOTO ID INCLUDING NAME AND ADDRESS (ONE REQUIRED)
Valid Arizona driver license
Valid Arizona non-operating identification card
Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification
LIST #2 - SUFFICIENT ID WITHOUT A PHOTOGRAPH THAT BEAR THE NAME AND ADDRESS (TWO REQUIRED)
Utility bill of the elector that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election. A utility bill may be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, sewer, telephone, cellular phone, or cable television
Bank or credit union statement that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election
Valid Arizona Vehicle Registration
Indian census card
Property tax statement of the elector's residence
Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
Arizona vehicle insurance card
Recorder's Certificate
Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification, including a voter registration card issued by the County Recorder
Any mailing to the elector marked “Official Election Material”

Frequently Asked Questions

CAN I VOTE EARLY?
Absolutely. If you are on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL), you will automatically receive a ballot in your mailbox beginning February 15, 2017. Voters not on PEVL may make a one-time early ballot request or sign up for the Permanent Early Voting List. The deadline to request an early ballot by mail is Friday, March 3rd at 5:00 p.m. Additionally, in-person early voting is available until Friday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m. Contact your County Recorder's Office to request an early ballot or find early voting locations.

DO I NEED ID TO VOTE EARLY?
If you vote early, either by mail or in person, ID is not required. Your signature on the early ballot affidavit is compared to your voter registration record by the County Recorder to determine if the signature is valid. ID is required if you vote at the polls on Election Day.

HOW CAN MILITARY & OVERSEAS VOTERS GET A BALLOT?
Military and Overseas voters have special voting rights under federal and state law (Uniformed & Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA)). These rights include the use of a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to register to vote and request an early ballot as well as the use of a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB), which serves as an emergency back-up ballot. For more information, UOCAVA voters should visit: the Secretary of State's Website or the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP).

DO I HAVE TO VOTE EVERYTHING ON MY BALLOT?
No, voters do not have to vote everything on their ballot. The votes they do cast will still be counted. However, we encourage voters to vote down the ballot as local races, propositions, judges, etc. can impact voters' daily lives.
