Civil Discourse and How to get Involved in Elections

What Is Civil Discourse? What isn’t Civil Discourse? Why is Civil Discourse difficult? Why do we need Civil Discourse? The Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission will answer these questions and more as we provide voters with tips and techniques to have civil discussions with family, friends and neighbors about politics and/or elections. We will also talk about the importance of media literacy in different forms of media, including; researching and using the internet. The goal of media literacy education is to develop informed, reflective, and critical thinkers. Democracy depends on civic engagement.We will conclude with how to use Clean Election resources, such as our Voter Dashboard,Civics Curriculum, Debates, and Voter Education Guide to be an informed voter. The event will take place at the Tempe Public Library (480-350-5564) 3500 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85285.
