The Commission may adopt rules to carry out the purposes of the Clean Elections Act and to govern procedures of the Commission. This process is done in public meetings and provides the public at least 60 days to comment on proposed rules. The public may petition the Commission to consider rules changes.

    The Commission approved opening a public comment period on proposed rules related to the Voter’s Right to Know Act, Proposition 211 at it's July 27th Commission Meeting.

    All public comments can be submitted to the Commission via email at [email protected]. Please include which rule proposal you're referencing in the subject line.

  • Advisory Opinion
    Clean Elections accepts advisory opinion requests related to the Voter’s Right to Know Act. Advisory opinions are made available at the Clean Elections Commission via its website and by request. Once an advisory opinion is made available via the website, the public has 10 days to provide comment. Comments may be emailed to [email protected]. The Commission will review the matter and make a determination within 60 days after receiving a qualifying advisory opinion. This time frame can be shortened under certain circumstances.
