The Presidential Preference Election (PPE), is an election in which voters can choose who they would like to be their presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 General Election. Some states have a similar process but utilize different terminology, like a presidential primary, a presidential preference primary or many other variations. Other states hold caucuses in the months leading up to a presidential election. Caucuses are meetings organized by the recognized political parties that are conducted at the county, district, or precinct level. Depending on state and political party rules, presidential primaries and caucuses can be "closed", "open", or a hybrid of the two.
Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 1953, the Biden family moved from Pennsylvania to Delaware. Joe Biden graduated from the University of Delaware and Syracuse Law School and served on the New Castle County Council. In 1972, at the age of 29, he was elected to the United States Senate.
Just weeks after the election, tragedy struck the Biden family. Biden's wife, Neilia, and their one-year-old daughter, Naomi, were killed and their two young sons, Joseph “Beau” III and Hunter, critically injured in a car accident. Biden took the Senate oath of office at the hospital and began commuting to Washington every day by train, a practice he maintained throughout his career in the Senate.
In 1977, Biden married Jill Jacobs. Jill Biden, who holds a doctorate (Ed.D.) in Education, has worked as an educator for over two decades. The Bidens raised three children: Beau, Hunter, and Ashley. In 2015, Beau Biden passed away from brain cancer.
As Chairman or Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee for 17 years, Biden was recognized for his work on criminal justice issues, including the landmark 1994 Crime Act and the Violence Against Women Act. As Chairman or Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for 12 years, Biden played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. foreign policy. Biden served 36 years in the United States Senate.
In 2008, Barack Obama chose Joe Biden as his running mate. Biden served as Vice President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. As vice president, he implemented the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, advised President Obama on key foreign policy decisions, led several initiatives to reduce violence against women, and initiated the “Cancer Moonshot” program. On January 12, 2017, President Obama awarded Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his decades of public service.
In 2020, Joe Biden defeated incumbent Donald Trump to become the 46th President of the United States. Biden is the oldest person to take the oath of office (78), the first president from Delaware, and the second Roman Catholic president in United States history (the first was John F. Kennedy).
During the campaign, Biden selected Kamala Harris as his running mate. Harris is the first woman, first African American, and first person of South Asian heritage to serve as Vice President of the United States.
I’m Gabriel Cornejo. That’s Core-nay-ho. I’m running for President of the United States of America. It’s a weird thing to say, let alone type out. I never thought I’d be doing this, partly because that’s not a thing most people think about. More than that, it doesn’t sound like a fun job. I’d prefer living an uncomplicated life. I’m running because our ship is sinking, and I’d rather stop the people drilling the holes causing the leak than enjoy the music on the way down.
That’s me in a nutshell. I’m the guy who wants to be lazy but can’t fight this compulsion to make things right…or at least better.
It started with a manger. No, I wasn’t born in one, but I was raised to believe in someone that was. This person spoke of love. Spoke of caring for others. That influenced my early views on life. Being raised in a non-traditional household, with mom and grandparents trading off guard duties over me, I still gleaned that love was the motivation.
With those expressions of love, it would only be a matter of time before I’d be empowered to do the same.
“You never forget your first”. Imagine being in fifth grade, one of your friends is diagnosed with cancer and would lose their hair. Well, that was my first. My first opportunity to demonstrate care of another through action. I and 13 other classmates and teacher would shave our heads to let our friend know he wasn’t alone.
We were dubbed the “Bald Eagles”. The national spotlight came once our story was told. “Good Morning America” and “People” magazine came calling. News publications and celebrities did, too. Not because we did some complicated world-changing thing, like, say, curing caaancer. But because we did the loving thing and put our friend first.
I think about that time often. I’m proud to have been amongst such amazing human beings. Yes, my friend fully recovered and has kids now with his loving wife. I think about it now as an adult. Similar in age as they were, I try to comprehend what his parent must have been through. Your child’s health is always a concern, but our healthcare system has never been easy to work with to make matters worse.
I’d love to tell you so much more, but if I ramble on any longer, I’ll reach TLDR status…that’s Too Long Didn’t Read for the uninitiated.
Let me conclude with this. Love was taught to me, given to me, and then motivated me. This story may have been my first demonstration of love, but with your help, hopefully, it won’t be my greatest demonstration of love.

In his lifetime, he has only witnessed years of poor leadership and corruption, where elected politicians raise their social classes as poverty wreaks havoc on our neighborhoods. Politicians who do not experience the hardships of the typical American do not understand the necessity of the reforms that must be performed. He is a fifth-generation Minnesotan, the husband of Annalise Phillips, and the father of two remarkable daughters.
Williamson was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her father was an immigration lawyer and her mother a stay-at-home mom. Politically her parents were liberals, which, according to Williamson, made her “deeply aware of issues of social justice.”
On her 2020 campaign website, Williamson said of her coming-of-age in the sixties and seventies: “From the cultural and spiritual revolution of that time, to the anti-war protests and political activism that marked the era, I was every bit a child of my generation.” She attended Pomona College in Claremont, California for two years before dropping out. She held a series of odd jobs during her twenties, including a cocktail waitress, office temp, and author’s assistant.
Williamson says the book A Course in Miracles sparked her interest in religion and spirituality. In 1983, she began giving non-denominational, spiritual lectures based on it. She also began working to halt the AIDS epidemic, creating nonprofits in Los Angeles and New York to provide non-medical support to people living with life-disrupting illnesses. She also founded Project Angel Food, which serves food to homebound people with AIDS in Los Angeles.
Williamson published her first book, A Return to Love in 1992. It became a bestseller after it was featured on the “Oprah Winfrey Show.” Williamson has published fourteen more books since then and gained a devoted following that includes several Hollywood celebrities.
In 2004, Williamson co-founded The Peace Alliance, which seeks to “take the work of peacebuilding and make it a national and international priority through policy and legislation, as well as embodied in our everyday lives.” She ran for Congress in 2014 as an independent in California’s 33rd congressional district. She finished fourth in the blanket primary.

Like so many Americans, John Anthony was born into a working class family who did not have the means to pay for his college or law school. Against all odds, John Anthony eventually graduated from Georgetown Law, founded his own law firm, started an Ai tech company, and is now ready to offer his leadership to his country as President of the United States.
The son of a Korean War veteran, Christie majored in political science at the University of Delaware and graduated in 1984. He then embarked on the study of law and received a J.D. degree from Seton Hall University in 1987. Christie practiced law for more than a decade (1987–2001) at Dughi, Hewit and Palatucci (later Dughi, Hewit & Domalewski, P.C.) in Cranford, New Jersey, becoming a partner in 1993. During his time at that firm, Christie became involved in managing and fundraising for the campaigns of Republican candidates, most notably the 1992 reelection campaign of U.S. Pres. George H.W. Bush and in 1999 the successful first presidential campaign of his son George W. Bush. In 2001 the latter Bush appointed Christie U.S. attorney for the district of New Jersey. Christie received bipartisan accolades for clamping down on corruption during his nearly seven years in the position, prosecuting more than 130 public officials without losing a case.
A native Floridian with blue-collar roots, Ron was raised in Dunedin by his mother, a nurse, and father, who installed cable boxes. He attended Dunedin High School and worked his way through Yale University, where he was the captain of the varsity baseball team. He also graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, where he earned a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer.
During his active-duty service, Ron deployed to Iraq in support of the SEAL mission in Fallujah, Ramadi and the rest of the Al Anbar province. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

Bamberg, South Carolina in 1972 was a place where the railroad tracks divided the town by race.
So when Nikki Haley was born – one of four children to the only Indian-American family in town – she was already an outsider. But Nikki’s mom would always say her job was not to show everyone how she was different…but how she was the same. And she would also tell her how blessed she was to live in America.
In 2004, Haley ran for the South Carolina State House against a 30-year incumbent Republican lawmaker in the primary and won. In the state legislature, she took on the old guard culture of Columbia and pushed for tax cuts and transparency when legislators in both parties voted to increase their taxpayer-funded benefits. As retaliation, the Republican leadership blackballed Haley, removed her from her committee assignments and attempted to end her career.
So she ran for Governor. And won.
In 2010, Haley was elected the 116th governor of South Carolina. She was the youngest governor in the country and first minority female governor in America.
During Governor Haley’s tenure, South Carolina was a national economic leader. Known as the “Beast of the Southeast,” the state’s unemployment rate hit a 15-year low, it saw over $20 billion in new capital investment, and her administration announced new jobs in every county in the state.
Governor Haley brought sweeping reform to South Carolina. She passed ethics reform and signed into law a bill that for the first time required lawmakers to put their votes “on the record”. She improved education and empowered parents by signing a charter school bill that expanded school choice. And she brought South Carolinians together when tragedy struck – both in the aftermath of the racially motivated murders at the Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, and following the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew.
The people of South Carolina decisively reelected her in 2014. Two years later, Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
In 2016, President Donald Trump nominated Governor Haley to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. In that role, she also served as a member of the President’s Cabinet and on the National Security Council. As ambassador, Haley defended U.S. interests, kept our country safe, and championed human rights.
Nikki and Michael Haley met at Clemson University. Michael, a combat veteran, deployed to Afghanistan in 2013, making Nikki the first governor in U.S. history to have her spouse deployed. Michael is currently deployed overseas again for a year-long mission. The Haleys have been married for 26 years and have two children, Rena and Nalin. They also have two dogs, Bentley and Rio.
Governor Asa Hutchinson is a Republican candidate for President of the United States. He
served as the 46th Governor of the State of Arkansas and in his last election, he was re-
elected with 65 percent of the vote, having received more votes than any other Republican
candidate for governor in the State’s history.
Asa Hutchinson’s time as governor is distinguished by his success in securing over $700
million per year in tax cuts, safeguarding the retirement pay of veterans from state income
tax, shrinking the size of state government, creating over 100,000 new jobs and leading a
national initiative to increase computer science education.
The Governor’s career in public service began when President Ronald Reagan appointed
him as the youngest U.S. Attorney in the nation for the Western District of Arkansas. In
1996, he won the first of three consecutive terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.
During his third term in Congress, President George W. Bush appointed Governor
Hutchinson to serve as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration and later as
the nation’s first Undersecretary of Homeland Security for Border Protection.
Governor Hutchinson’s experience and wealth of knowledge established him as a national

January 10, 2023, marked the end of Governor Hutchinson’s second term. He is a former

The PPE is not a primary election. This means Arizona’s open primary law does not apply to the PPE. Therefore, only voters of a participating party may vote on that party's ballot. Since only the Democratic & Republican Parties are participating in the PPE, only Democrats & Republicans can vote in the PPE.
Can I change my political affiliation so I can vote?
Yes. The voter registration deadline for the PPE is February 20, 2024. Any voter that is a registered with one of the two participating parties by that deadline can vote in the PPE.

Qualified electors who experience an emergency between 5:00 p.m. on the Friday preceding the election and 5:00 p.m. on the Monday preceding the election may request to vote at an emergency voting center. “Emergency” means any unforeseen circumstance that would prevent the voter from voting at the polls.
Voters should contact their county for emergency voting information.
The state parties will hold their state conventions to determine their delegates. Delegates from all of the states attend the party’s national convention, where the party winners of the Arizona PPE are then considered among the other states’ nominees. The official party candidate for President of the United States is selected to represent the party nationally, and placed on the general election ballot across the country.

How are delegates selected?
The process for selecting delegates is prescribed by each party’s bylaws. The PPE decides who the delegates vote for at the national convention.
Do the delegates have to vote for the PPE winner?
Delegates must cast their ballot for the candidate who won the PPE in Arizona unless:

candidate releases delegate's obligation
candidate withdraws from the race
one round of voting has been held without an official nominee being selected

1. When are the polls open?
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Don't forget your ID!
2. Can I vote early?
Absolutely. For the all mail elections voters will automatically receive a ballot in your mailbox beginning 27 days before the election. If you are living in an area not participating in an all mail election voters on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) will receive ballots automatically. Voters not on AEVL may also make a one-time early ballot request or visit a replacement or voting location.
3. What if I have an emergency and can't vote on Election Day?
If a voter cannot vote during the early voting period, emergency voting is available beginning 5pm the Friday before Election Day through 5pm the Monday before Election Day. Voters must sign an affidavit under penalty of perjury that they have an emergency that prevents them from voting on Election Day (voters do not need to disclose what the emergency is).
4. Do I need ID to vote early?
If you vote early by mail, ID is not required. Your signature on the early ballot affidavit is compared to your voter registration record by the County Recorder to determine if the signature is valid.
ID is required if you vote early in person, or at a polling place or voting center on Election Day.
5. How can military & overseas voters (UOCAVA) get a ballot?
Military and Overseas voters have special voting rights under federal and state law (Uniformed & Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA)). These rights include the use of a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to register to vote and request an early ballot as well as the use of a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB), which serves as an emergency back-up ballot. 6. Do I have to vote everything on my ballot?
No, voters do not have to vote everything on their ballot. The votes they do cast will still be counted. However, we encourage voters to vote down the ballot as local races, propositions, judges, etc. can impact voters' daily lives.
