My name is Reginald Bolding, and I currently serve as the Democratic Leader in the Arizona House of Representatives. I am a former special education teacher and the founder of one of the largest civic engagement organizations across the state. I live in Phoenix with my wife and three beautiful girls. As an educator I saw firsthand the obstacles and barriers faced by students and their families, and that inspired me to run for the state legislature for the first time eight years ago. During this time, I’ve been on the frontlines fighting to improve our public education system, spearheading efforts to tackle housing affordability, and fighting against voter restriction bills. Free, fair and secure elections are under attack, and I’m running for Secretary of State because I believe running elections shouldn’t be about a political party. As a voting rights champion, I’ve helped register over 50,000 new voters, to ensure all Arizonans have fair and equitable access to participate in the democratic process. I have always believed in bringing together a diverse coalition of people to fight for the wellbeing of Arizona families. Actions speak louder than hollow rhetoric. As a legislator, I have championed election integrity. As Secretary of State, I will remove the toxic partisanship that has eroded public confidence in our elections. The Secretary of State also handles business registrations. I will continue to advance the Business One-Stop portal to reduce regulatory burdens on our small businesses. My legislative record of low and flat taxes, consumer protection, and fighting child trafficking have earned me a perfect score from the Arizona Free Enterprise Club and recognition as a Champion of Liberty from the Republican Liberty Caucus. As Chairman of Ways and Means, I ran an efficient ship, killing any bills calling for a tax increase. By responding to constituent needs and concerns, I was re-elected in a purple legislative district in 2020. As your next Secretary of State, I will never back down from what is right. I am running for Secretary of State because elections belong to the People, not the government, but it seems that many elected officials and government bureaucrats have forgotten that. I’ve led the effort to audit election records just like we audit financial records. I’ve spoken up for disenfranchised voters and the rule of law, and I’ve delivered solutions like watermarks on ballots, an audit trail for legitimate ballot documents, and post-election visibility of your ballot as it was cast. Consent of the governed goes with the right to inspect the results. I will ensure that this right is protected to the fullest extent possible. Every legal ballot should be counted, voter rolls must be cleaned up and those who cheat must face consequences for their acts. I will ensure complete transparency of the vote-counting process and see to it that reports of irregularities and discrepancies are reviewed and where there is evidence of wrongdoing, referred to the Attorney General for appropriate action. As a former US Marine, father of three daughters, attorney, and elections administrator – Adrian has spent his whole career fighting for justice and democracy. Adrian’s service in the Marine Corps and legal career emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and sacrifice in pursuit of the American dream. In 2016, Adrian became the first Democrat elected to the Maricopa County Recorder’s office in 50 years. Once elected, Adrian revolutionized Arizona’s elections by registering half a million new voters, providing direct outreach to underserved communities, and making voting free, fair, and accessible to all. The sacred right to vote is the ultimate safeguard against a cruel and oppressive government. Our future as a true free people living in a free society is inextricably tied to fair, free and secure elections. Now, more than ever, it is obvious the office of Secretary of State must set the standards and expectations for the administration of our elections.
