Cesar Chavez
State Senator - District 24
Democratic
State Representative CÉsar N. ChÁvez was first elected in 2016 to represent the 29th Legislative District in the Arizona House of Representatives. Born in Mexico, along with his parents immigrated to the United States when he was three years old. From a young age, ChÁvez saw the lack of resources within his community. His involvement was key to numerous movements including the protests against anti-immigrant law, SB1070. His compassion for Arizona’s wellbeing led him to champion other key issues such as education, healthcare, and economic development. Since being elected, ChÁvez has proven to be an integral member of the legislature. Not only has he been able to work efficiently for the benefit of his constituency, but he’s been able to stop hurtful legislation from going through the legislative process. He’s been a champion to ensure job growth, accessibility to healthcare, and public education funding. Representative ChÁvez has also led the charge to seek solutions towards the housing crises and providing services to those experiencing homelessness. “I seek your trust in electing me as your State Senator for Arizona’s 24th legislative district. Together we will end this housing crisis and ensure that all Arizonan’s have an opportunity at the American Dream.”

Anna Hernandez
State Senator - District 24
Democratic
http://annahernandezfor24.com/
Anna Hernandez is a Democrat running for State Senate in Legislative District 24. She was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. While she never wanted to run for office, her family, like many families, has paid the cost of the choices of politicians who put money and ego before people. Because of their choices, AZ ranks 48th in education but 8th in incarceration, quality jobs aren’t in our neighborhoods, housing is unaffordable, and our communities are denied important resources. Anna began advocating for police accountability and reinvestment of the police budget in community resources after her brother was killed by the Phoenix Police Department in 2019. Anna believes that we need to be represented by people that understand the impact of their decisions. She is committed to fighting for fully funded education for children, access to quality jobs, affordable housing for all, resources for mental health and substance use, and freedom from state violence.

Anna Abeytia comes from a family of community activists and was taught the importance of giving back to her community. When Anna was a young child she attended marches and protests with her grandparents, in support of labor unions and worker’s rights. Once she graduated high school she got involved in a local election and became a community organizer. For the past 8 years she has been working across Arizona to help elect democratic candidates, pass progressive ballot initiatives and educate voters on the importance of elections and making their voices heard. In 2020 Anna decided it was time to give back to her community even more by running for the Cartwright Elementary School District, where not only did she attend school but so did her family. She was elected in Nov 2020. Anna’s goal as a Governing Board Member is to bring more programs and funding to the CSD to help support the Fine Arts in Maryvale and be an advocate for Special Education programs and proper educational care for those with special needs. When Anna is elected to the House of Representatives she plans on continuing those goals for all of Arizona Public Schools.

Lydia Hernandez
State Representative - District 24
Democratic
Lydia Hernandez is the daughter of migrant farmworkers, born in South Texas. Her resilient path began at a young age as a migrant coupled with her parents' insistence on the importance of education are the key components that created Lydia’s hunger for knowledge. She is a graduate of Baylor University. In Arizona, (1993), she grew into a leadership role with Valley Interfaith Project as a grassroots leader, organizing public actions. Her involvement & leadership led to the birth of the Arizona Coalition for Immigrant Rights, an effort to civically engage families in public discourse which ultimately culminated in the massive marches that encouraged over 300,000 families to advocate for immigrant rights. This exposed Arizona nationally, and for the first time, our state was engaged in the conversation with national groups regarding training, civic engagement, citizen workshops, voter registration, and get-out- the-vote efforts. Currently, Mrs. Hernandez serves on the Cartwright School District Governing Board #83 where she has served since 2003. In 2010, under her leadership, turned the District academically around. Mrs. Hernandez is a former State Legislator for LD29 with over 30 years of experience in public service! EDUCATION! JOBS! HOUSING! HEALTH CARE! BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL!

Hector Jaramillo
State Representative - District 24
Democratic
Hector Jaramillo has lived in Arizona for his entire life. A first generation American, Hector was educated in Glendale, inside the district he hopes to represent: from Washington Elementary School District, to Glendale Union High School District and Glendale Community College, he knows first hand where LD24 educates their children. With a passion for serving, after some time as a classroom assistant, Hector engages in 1-on-1 therapy for children with autism. Having been born in Phoenix to immigrant parents with low-incomes, Hector knows what it’s like to struggle. The government should use its resources to help struggling families, Hector believes. Hector spent years wishing the government would do things differently. In 2020, after George Floyd and Breonna Taylor were killed by reckless arms of the government, Hector knew he had to do more than protest- he had to join the fight and be part of the solution. Hector is ready to serve his district and his state. It's time our representatives fought for the voters. Hector Jaramillo is ready to represent LD24.

Analise Ortiz
State Representative - District 24
Democratic
https://www.ortizforaz.com/
I'm Analise Ortiz. I was born in Arizona and grew up in a family of six kids. My parents are both educators and they taught us that our communities are strongest when neighbors look out for each other. I graduated from ASU with dreams of becoming an investigative journalist. As I uncovered injustice in my community, I knew I couldn’t just report on it–I had to work to change it. Today, I serve our community by fighting for changes to state laws so we can invest in public education, protect civil rights, and help hard-working people thrive. I have successfully advocated for bipartisan civil rights legislation to be signed into law and I have experience defeating harmful bills that threatened our most basic freedoms. As an auntie to six kids, I'm dedicated to building a brighter future for Arizona families. I'm running to represent Maryvale and Glendale in the Arizona House of Representatives to deliver courageous and compassionate leadership. I will work to invest in public schools, address the high cost of housing, and bring good-paying jobs to our community. I'm Analise Ortiz and I hope to earn your support.
