As Americans, we work hard to build a better life for our families and loved ones. We count on the promise that our efforts mean something, and we don't have to accept failure, mediocrity or bad government. My record as President of the State Senate proves I achieved a structurally balanced budget with the largest tax cuts AND biggest increase in education funding in history without accounting tricks and gimmicks. Education and school safety are top priorities, but will not include my opponent's gun seizure plan. I will not sell out Arizona to outside interest groups. We will secure our border with strong terms of engagement for our National Guard. I will demand that our Senators repeal Obamacare that is hurting small businesses and killing jobs. As a fifth-generation Arizonan, I'm not going anywhere. But since my wife and I raised our three children, we've seen taxes rise, budgets fail, roads crumble, schools struggle... Enough is enough. If you want more of the same, there are other candidates who would happily take your vote (and your money) to continue up the political chain. If you want something better, my name is Ken Bennett and I would be honored by your vote.
Doug Ducey is committed to continuing to expand opportunity for all Arizonans - and as a successful businessman, he's brought much-needed change to Arizona government. After graduating from ASU, he worked for Procter and Gamble and then Cold Stone Creamery, where he helped grow a small company to one with over 1,440 locations worldwide. Alarmed by deficit spending and the growth of government, Doug ran for public office, first for Arizona State Treasurer then governor. Building on his business experience, Doug took a $1 billion deficit in his first year and balanced it - without raising taxes. During his tenure, Arizona's economy has created 160,000 new jobs with the lowest unemployment rate in 10 years. He has invested $2.7 billion new dollars into public schools - again, without raising taxes. As a result, teachers across Arizona are finally receiving significant raises - raises they deserve. He's cut regulations to stimulate jobs, streamlined government operations and reduced taxes every year. In addition, Doug launched Arizona's Border Strike Force, a partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement to enhance border security. He also successfully eliminated a massive backlog of untested rape kits, resulting in numerous arrests. He and his wife, Angela, have three sons.
I learned my spirit of service from my parents. Both were lifelong public school teachers. Like most educators, they were passionate about changing lives -- dipping into their own pockets to make sure their students had the resources they needed. I entered public service after growing my public art business because I love Arizona and understand the challenges facing our families and communities. For the past twelve years, I've been a legislator, with six years in leadership. I've fought to ensure every Arizonan has access to a first-class education. I've worked across the aisle to create good jobs, provide affordable healthcare, ensure public safety, and bring world-class transportation choices to Arizona. I'm the only Democratic candidate for Governor who's ever served in elected office, so I know how to govern from Day One. I'm also the only one who's ever won an election, and I've won six in a row. It's time we had a leader who governs for the best interests of all our citizens, rather than for the best interests of large out-of-state corporations. We must do better. As Governor, I will create opportunity for all Arizonans to create a better life for themselves and their families.
Kelly Fryer is an experienced leader who will work for the people of Arizona - all of us. Her 15-county plan will create good jobs, strengthen our public schools, support small businesses, fix our roads, protect our natural resources, tackle child poverty, end for-profit prisons, make us safer from gun violence, put government back into the hands of the voters, and fight to bring healthcare-for-all to Arizona. Kelly has spent her career in service to others, as a teacher, pastor, Executive Director of Arizona List and CEO of YWCA Southern Arizona, a 100-year old women's rights and racial justice organization. She has also owned her own businesses and created programs to help other small business owners succeed. Kelly is honest, tough and has 29-years of transformational leadership experience, helping people work together to create real change. She will not quit until we create an Arizona for Everyone. Kelly is 56-years old, has an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts in political science/economics and two Master's degrees, and is the author of several books on leadership and mission. Kelly and her wife split their time between Tucson and their home in Bisbee. They have three grown children and a 3-year old granddaughter.
David Garcia knows that our economy is stacked against us and believes it is time to stand up and say enough. Our schools rank forty-eighth in funding, and the middle class is getting crushed while Governor Ducey works for the special interests that hike utility rates and line their pockets while we pay the price. Garcia will fight to make big corporations and the wealthiest pay their fair share so our children can get a good education and our workers get a living wage. David Garcia has spent his career dedicated to Arizona public schools so every child has a shot at a quality education. As a professor and associate state superintendent, he earned a reputation as a leader who found common ground, smart solutions, and built consensus. David Garcia stands FOR everything that Donald Trump opposes, such as a government that works for the people and not wealthy special interests and the chance for EVERY child to have the best shot at opportunity and the American Dream. In the face of Donald Trump's extreme policies and rhetoric, David Garcia will make Arizona stronger and move our state forward.
