You should know by now that I keep my campaign promises. I promised to expose the Dark Money spending by Pinnacle West/APS when I got re-elected, and I did. I subpoenaed the utility and forced the disclosure of millions of dollars in dark money. I am teaming up with Lauren Kuby, ASU sustainability scientist and former Tempe City Councilmember, to get a pro-consumer, pro clean energy majority on the Corporation Commission for the first time in decades. We can make Arizona the Solar Capital of the World, lock in lower utility rates, provide a solar economic boom, advocate for better consumer protections, and end the corruption at the Commission. With a warming planet, we need to take immediate action to end carbon emissions from power utilities. The Commission’s Republicans are using “fraudit” tactics, claiming that renewable energy costs more than electricity from fossil-fuel plants, but the opposite is true. With fossil fuels, spiking natural gas and oil prices will cause added fuel charges. I don’t anticipate the price of sunshine, wind or geothermal heat from the Earth's core changing anytime soon. I’m running alongside Sandra Kennedy to embrace a future where clean air, clean water, and clean, reliable energy are a given for everyone. I am a husband and a father. I have been married to my lovely wife, Katerina, for over 19 years. We have three daughters and have run a family business together for over a decade. The task is simple, the Arizona Constitution requires citizens to have safe and reliable utilities at affordable rates. Arizona consumers need Arizona solutions, not imported problems from other states like California and Texas. Our future is bright, with great promise through advancing new clean, dependable Arizona-based energy sources, capable of producing an abundant supply. Sources such as micro-nuclear technologies, clean hydrogen, and geothermal pump storage utilizing existing excess solar power. However, the affordability and dependability of our current energy sources must be maintained, as quality alternative sources are being developed. As a member of the Arizona Corporation Commission, my focus will be on putting consumers first. I will reject mandates, subsidies, and costly, undependable methods of providing utilities to our homes and businesses. I’ll reject the profit schemes that have brought out-of-control rates, blackouts, and fraud to other states, and say no to policies that are more about who makes the profit than who pays the bill. With my experience in both water and power, electing me provides the consumers of Arizona with an experienced rate-payer advocate working on their behalf. I am a proud father; devoted husband of 33 years; Air Force combat veteran who fought in the Gulf War; and a two-term City Councilmember representing one of the fastest growing areas in Arizona. As a mechanical engineer, I worked 17 years in the utility industry, overseeing the installation of natural gas distribution pipelines and working with local governments to provide service to their resident’s. As a Councilmember, I am responsible for the municipal public utilities that provide electric, natural gas, water and sewer services to the community, ensuring customers have reliable service at just and reasonable rates. I have the experience you need and deserve in an Arizona Corporation Commissioner. We need responsible leaders who are willing to protect consumers, protect our businesses, and ensure Arizona maintains a strong and reliable energy grid.
