Democratic
https://peshlakaiazsenate.com
Arizona native, lifelong Democrat and a veteran. 116 years ago, my great-grandfathers met with President Theodore Roosevelt to annex the western part of the Navajo Nation onto the reservation. That leadership planted seeds of collaboration that grew family connections, sharing the Navajo language, which culminated in the experimental use of the Navajo language to ultimately win WWII. Utilizing the G.I. Bill, I attended Northern Arizona University, earning both a BA and MA degree in History and Educational Psychology. I am the Senator for Arizona's Legislative District 7 and a former House Representative (2013-2014).? My bipartisan accomplishments include passage of Arizona's Native American Day, a recognized state holiday, passage of the Affordable Healthcare Act, passage of state aviation funding for tribal airports and negotiating in the teacher pay increase legislation of 2018. I have the knowledge, experience and leadership skills to restore and increase public education funding, advocate for affordable health care, address racial justice, policing reform and protecting Arizona's most vulnerable populations. In these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a way forward in keeping Arizonans in school, in employment, and creating opportunity despite obstacles..
