Dear Clean Elections Supporter,

The Commission would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your previous generosity in donating to the Clean Elections Fund.  It is because of supporters like you that the Clean Elections system is working well in Arizona.  In 2008 65% of all the candidates running for legislative and statewide offices used the Clean Elections system, the largest percentage ever.   The Commission would also like to remind you that it is not too late to donate to the fund for this year.

Any taxpayer making a donation to the Fund by December 31, 2009, will receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $640 or 20% of the tax amount on his or her Arizona income tax return (whichever is greater).  If you file jointly, this tax credit is $640 per person for a total of $1280.  

You may make a donation to the “Clean Elections Fund” by check or money order.     

You can determine what your liability was last year and donate accordingly.  But please remember that if you do not owe the State income tax, this dollar-for-dollar tax credit will not benefit you.  Donations to the Clean Elections Fund are not tax deductible on your Federal return and cannot be designated to benefit a particular candidate, political party or election.  

We realize you have a choice in donation designations and truly appreciate your generosity in contributing to the Clean Elections Fund last year.  We hope you make the same choice this year.  Should you have questions regarding this or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact the Commission.
